I am Incy, the most important member of the Virtual Shropshire Drone Rangers team. I have been flying around Shropshire for the past year or so, having all sorts of adventures and thought it might be fun to share some of my experiences with you. In coming weeks I will be telling you the type of work we do plus some of stuff that happens in the background.
But first I want to introduce you to the rest of the team. Whenever I fly I need at least two humans on the ground:
- A pilot who controls which direction I fly in and where the camera is pointing.
- An observer (or spotter): whose main job is to make sure everyone on the ground is safe and to alert the pilot of any potential conflicts in the sky, such as low-flying helicopters.
Currently we have one pilot, Paul and four observers: Sabine, Suzanne, Sue and Maggie. I will tell you more about how we all work together in future posts, but for now I just want to let you know that they are all really good at their jobs!
We have all been working really hard over the summer flying a wide range of missions including aerial images for Shrewsbury Folk Fetival and Oswestry Charity Balloon Festival, mapping for Shropshire Council Outdoor Leisure and video for a Japanese TV company More details of these soon!
